Todd has a very unique way of seeing the world. Probably, because his back story is so unusual, he puts pieces together differently. He photographs an ordinary object and makes it suddenly erotic. His camera sees destitute, desperate people and gives them dignity so when I look at his picture I actually notice this person for the first time. He can catch that brilliant moment of a surfer riding a massive wave and you see the joy in the man’s eyes. He catches the flashy ladies on their manhunt with irony and a wink to his viewer. A photographer usually makes his or her reputation in a genre- be it fashion, landscapes, architecture, erotica or sports- instead Todd has the capacity to truly “multi task” . I can’t think of another artist with his talent for diversity. I love his work and look forward to seeing what comes next!
